Kettering Kickoff

PhyXTGears traveled to Flint, Michigan to compete with 31 other teams from the midwest region and as far away as Rochester, NY. Ranking 3rd at the end of the seeded matches, Team #1720 went on to win the competition! (more story here; photos here; Kettering weblink here)

Demonstrations Galore

Team members have been busy giving demonstrations of the robot. Team #447 from Anderson came to join in for a demo at the Maring-Hunt Library in September. Demos have also been held at Yorktown HS, Burris School, and IN Academy. Several more are planned. Contact team coordinator Cheryl LeBlanc to schedule one for your school.

July 21 - 22 Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI)

May 19 - Intel International Science & Engineering Fair

INFirst had a presence at this huge science Fair, located at the Horizon Convention Center, Indianapolis. Helping to show (and tell) visiting students about FIRST robotics programs, Team 1720 brought our educational display and the team robot. Many visiting students enjoyed driving the bot and shooting balls at the goal. Lego robots and Vex robots were also present, amongst many, many other creative technologies, displays, and demonstrations. Thanks, Ashley, Tyler, Rick and Mike! (Photos)

April 6 - Animation Entry for 2006

March 16 - 18 - Boilermaker Regional Competition

Team 1720 made a fantastic showing at their first-ever competiton! Out of 29 teams, PhyXTGears rose to 11th place, and won the "Highest Rookie Seed" award. We are very proud of our team - everyone's dedication and hard work really showed! More news here.

Team 1720 was part of a FIRST robotics demonstration at the Statehouse, Indianapolis. Displays and robots informed our state representatives about the FIRST program. more (& photos)

Feb 21

SHIP DATE - After 6 intense weeks of hard work, Team #1720 (along with over 1,000 other teams across the USA and the world), packed up their robot and sent it off for inspection and competition. See news stories: BSU Campus Update and DailyNews. Team 1720's robot will compete at Boilermaker Regional on March 17 & 18. Attendance is free, so come cheer on The PhyXTGears! Dubbed "Tubby" (since it had to lose 53 pounds!), our robot is +85% complete, so we have some work yet to do at the BoilerMaker Regional competition. Not to worry - we'll get it all done - PhyXTGears Rock!

25 members of #1720's PhyXTGears traveled to Kokomo, Indiana, for the team's first FIRST Kickoff!
